Obituary for Joseph D. Coffman Joseph D. Coffman, 85, of St. Albans went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at CAMC General Division, Charleston. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Earl R. and Teresa E. Grant Coffman. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Edna R. Newman Coffman.
He retired from the Social Security Administration in 1995. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where he was a very active volunteer in the St. Francis School and Cafeteria. A proud member of the St Francis Choir since 1978.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former Grand Knight. Joe graduated from St. Xavier High School, Louisville, KY and was also a graduate of the University of Kentucky, class of 1958 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. He was an avid golfer and a Kentucky Wildcats fanatic.
Surviving are his children, Teresa B. Saltsman of Louisville, KY; Patricia J. and David Renner of Fort Mill, SC; Cathy J. and John Williams of St. Cloud, FL; Joseph E. and Katie Coffman of Raleigh, NC; and Angela M. Coffman and Gregory Kust of Hingham, MA. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, September 29, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Albans with Father Charles Anemelu as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Scott Depot. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Friday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Albans where a Rosary service will be held at 7:45 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, In Memory of Joseph D.
