Obituary for Phyllis Comer McCutcheon Phyllis Comer McCutcheon, 83, of St. Albans passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Comer and Grace Mabel Morton-Harrold; infant daughter, Tara Sue McCutcheon. Phyllis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, South Charleston and enjoyed singing in the choir and volunteering on several committees.

She also looked forward to volunteering with Hospice. She retired from the State of West Virginia. Phyllis graduated from Charleston High School, class of 1953.

She also attended Morris Harvey College. She was a former employee of Dr. James Burdette D.D.S. She was a 50 year survivor of cancer and she participated in cancer activities/walks, until she was unable.

Surviving are her son, David McCutcheon of Red House; daughter, Robin Carr of Hurricane; brother, James Comer (Janice) of Sumter, SC. ; sisters, Wanda Williams of New Martinsville and Genny Mooney of Bluefield. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brett (Kaylene) McCutcheon, Brian (Wendy) Carr, Tony (Tara) Carr, Michelle Carr and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, 508 Second Ave. , South Charleston, WV with the Rev Gary McGrew officiating. Entombment will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Friends may call from 12 to 1:00pm prior to the church service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Curtis Price Way, Charleston, WV 25311. You may visit Phyllis’s tribute page at chapmanfuneralhomes.com to share memories or condolences with the family.
