Obituary for James Edra Shinn James Edra Shinn went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully Tuesday, July 3, 2018 following a long illness. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ila Mae Parsons Shinn. He was the son of the late William Edra and Irene “Peggy” Shinn of Big Chimney and was a 1954 graduate of Elkview High School.

Jim was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Cross Lanes. He was the former owner of Shinn Plumbing and Heating and was a contractor in this valley for many years. An avid sports fan, he loved the WVU Mountaineers, helping people and serving God.

Jim is survived by sons, Mike Shinn (Kelly) of Fort Myers, FL, Jimmy Shinn (Mary) of Charleston; daughter, Pam Workman (Doak) of Houston, TX; step-sons, Randy Parsons (Nancy) of Scott Depot, Larry Parsons (Rhonda) of Milton; brothers, Wesley Shinn of Sebring, FL; grandchildren, Mandi Patton and Katie Seaton both of Nashville, TN, Jessica Yoder of Nappanee, IL, Philip Rukse of Hurricane, Duran, Megan and Dexx Workman all of Houston, TX; nine great grandchildren and his dear friends, Pastor John Rollins, Ed Schwartz and Bob Saber. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 1pm Friday, July 6, 2018 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane with Pastor John Rollins officiating. Burial will follow in Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.
