Francis (Franny)’s Obituary Francis Mack “Franny” Crull, age 83 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 28, 2019 surrounded by his family at home following a brief illness and a long, full life. He was born May 16, 1935 in New Lancaster, the son of Paul Mack and Thelma L. (Barnes) Crull. Franny attended Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood, and later served in the Army National Guard.

He retired from Wickes Lumber Company in Elwood after 20 years, and later owned and operated Crull Construction. He was also previously a route jobber for Standard Oil Company for several years. Franny and many extended family members were affiliated with Grace United Methodist Church in Elwood for many years.

He married the love of his life, Jerry M. McNew on April 17, 1957, and they shared over 49 years of marriage together until her passing in 2007. Franny was a member of the Tipton Moose Lodge, the Alexandria Eagles Lodge #1771, and the Tipton American Legion. Franny was an avid woodworker, and he was known for crafting hand-made toys and cabinetry for family members.

For many years, he and Jerry loved dancing and line dancing with several couples on a regular basis. They were also members of the Country Runabout Snowmobile Club during the late 1970’s and 1980’s. Through the years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking rides on his Honda scooter, and was active with oil painting for over 20 years.

In his free time, Franny enjoyed watching western movies and all types of sports – especially basketball. More than anything Franny was devoted to spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Franny’s family includes 2 children, Scott (wife Tammy) Crull of Windfall and Kelli (husband Jerry) Jordan of Fairmount; brother, Ivan (wife Betty) Crull of Elwood; sister, Eva Hollowell of Hampton Cove, AL; 3 grandchildren, Kelisha Brotherton, Kari (husband Tyler) Boggess, and Landon Crull; 4 great-grandchildren, Elijah Brotherton, EmmaJae Brotherton, Nathaniel Calvin, and Sophia Boggess; longtime special friend, Lynne Cook; and several nieces and nephews. Franny was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jerry M. Crull in 2007; 5 brothers, Wayne Crull, Raymond Crull, Leon “Shorty” Crull, Paul Crull Jr., and William Crull; and 2 sisters, Velma Heflin and Jane Manghelli. A funeral service celebrating Franny’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev.

Bill Johnston of Grace United Methodist Church in Elwood officiating. Burial will follow in Cook Cemetery in New Lancaster. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
