Obituary of Freda Cook Freda Ann Cook, 65, Marion, passed away at 6:47 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Marion General Hospital. A lifelong resident of Grant County, Freda was born in Marion on April 1, 1953, and was the daughter of Fredrick Mills and Annie (Evans) McKinley. On June 26, 1988, she married her loving husband, Steven A. Cook, and he survives.

Freda was a 1971 graduate of Mississinewa High School. She worked at Folkie’s as a server and cook before being employed at Richard’s Restaurant, where she was also a server. Freda was an avid NASCAR fan and especially followed Jeff Gordon.

She enjoyed watching golf, with Tiger Woods being her favorite golfer, and also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing Bingo, and watching game shows. She and Steven always treasured the times they spent camping in Michigan. She will be missed by her husband, Steven; sons, Bennie E. Myers, Jr., Marion, and Fred E. Myers, Marion; granddaughter, Angel; siblings, Ruby, Dottie, Debbie, Patty, and Kevin; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her brother-in-law and his wife, Rick (Rita) Perkins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Karen; step-parents, Bob McKinley and Kay Mills; and mother-in-law, Dorthea McCleese. The family will receive visitors from 12 to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN. Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Freda’s life will begin at 6 p.m. with Amanda Atkins officiating.

Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Cancer Services of Grant County, Tower Suites, 305 S. Norton Ave. , Marion, IN 46952.
