Obituary of David Thomas David Michael Thomas, 72, Jonesboro, passed away in Marion General Hospital at 2:47 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018. He was born in Fries, Virginia, on January 15, 1946, to the late William Cecil and Beulah (Vaughn) Thomas. Mike was a graduate of Fries High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Following his military service, he was a fork truck driver for Foster-Forbes in the shipping department. He then worked at Moorehead Communications, where he was a shipping manager. Mike was an avid tennis player and excellent cook.

He will be best remembered for how giving he was, though. He loved animals and would feed the neighbor cats whenever they came around. He was a father to many and one of his last requests was to take care of his sister, Faye, and his cat, Andromady.

He is survived by his sisters, Faye Blanton, Cleo Dowling, and Texas Harreld; other family members, Koti (Alyssa) Quintero, Mia Quintero, Johnny (Kerry) Dowling, Rodney (Phillis) White, Tim (Bonnie) Thomas, Tony White, Melody “Mel” Thomas, Kim (Mark) Hullinger, Ty (Lisa) Thomas, Jeff Thomas, Michele Thomas, Melisa (Scott) Hawkins, Jenna Thomas, Zane Thomas, Andy Thomas, Tony Thomas, Barry (Roberta) Bennett, Shari (Brett) Bayston, Tina (Bruce) Lizar, Paula (Alan) Smith, Robin (Steve) Gauze, and Robert Harreld. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William Thomas, Jr., and Jack Thomas; nephew, Greg Combs; in-laws, Grover “Cleve” Dowling, Ronald Harreld, Charles Blanton, Sr., Linda Thomas, and Donna Thomas. There will be no visitation or funeral service for Mike at the family’s request.

Burial will take place at a later date at Liberty Hill UM Cemetery in Fries, Virginia. Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN. Memorial contributions may be directed to Marion-Grant County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1921, Marion, IN 46952.
