George Arthur Kauchak, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 3, 2018 at Signature Healthcare of South Bend, IN. He was born on August 26, 1931 in Hanna, IN, to Stanley and Evelyn Kauchak, both of whom preceded him in death. On June 15, 1957 at First Christian Church in Knox, IN, George married Joanne E. Kauchak, who survives.

In addition to his loving wife of 61 years, George is survived by four daughters, Christine K. (Devon) Moon of Indianapolis, IN; Anne F. (Rick) Peckham of Needham, MA; Karyn J. (Timothy) Harlow of Carrollton, TX; and Amy K. (Jeremy) Bradley of Charlotte, NC; six grandchildren; sister, Katherine Thompson of Minneapolis, MN; and brothers, John (Libby) Kauchak of New Albany, IN, and Gerald (Maureen) Kauchak of Janesville, IL. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sisters, Myrna Sams, Marion Kovacik, Frances Kauchak, Evelyn Haas, and Loretta Daffron, as well as his brothers, Patrick Kauchak, Joseph Kauchak, William Kauchak, and Stanley “Bud” Kauchak. George was employed as a store manager at Big C Lumber.

He honorably served the United States in the Navy. He was a hospice volunteer for more than thirty years and was an active member of Clay Township Lions Club. Memorial services for George will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Clay Church, 52866 N. Ironwood Road, South Bend, IN.

Pastor Brian Durand will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00-11:00am on Saturday at church, prior to services.
