George Raymond Hust of Evansville went home to Heaven to see his loved ones on January 17th at the Linda E. White Hospice House. Ray was born on November 21, 1922 in Poole, Kentucky to Rufus Hust and Georgia (Ladd) Hust. Ray proudly served in the United States Army from 1940-1945 where he served in First Signal Intelligence.

He considered it an honor to serve. During his time during World War 2, Ray was instrumental in radio-locating missing service members adrift in the Pacific Ocean who in some cases had been in the water awaiting rescue for days. Ray worked at SIGECO for 35 years as Labor Relations Manager.

Upon leaving the service Ray married the love of his life, Gertrude (Williams) on August 31st, 1945. They were married 73 happy years and raised four wonderful children. Ray loved vacationing with his family and would annually load the family in the car to travel across country to visit family and friends for adventures.

Ray is survived by his wife, Gertrude; their children, James Patrick Hust, Steven Lewis Hust (Sandy), and Debra Hust Allen (Chris); and grandchildren, Andy (Terri) Hust, Samantha Luick (Jon), Robbie (Debbie), Jody (Stacey), Jeff (Julie); and a brother, Benjamin Hust (Phyllis). Ray was preceded in death by his son, Michael Ray Hust, and brother, Bobby (Joan) Hust. Ray also had great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Max, Katey, Kayecee, Emma, Nora, Khloe, Robbie, Madison and Bailey, and Great Great Grandchildren, Sloan and Brenner.

He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. The family would like to extend its thanks to the staff members of Deaconess VNA, Bethel Manor, and Linda White Hospice Center for their kind, compassionate, and professional care.
