George Stephen “Steve” Smith, 71, of Westminster, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, November 23, 2018. Born on February 9, 1947 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late George Edward and Helen (Barrett) Smith. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Smith, who predeceased him on March 27, 2017.

Steve graduated from Franklin High School in 1965. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked as a Baltimore County Police Officer in the Garrison… Read More » and Timonium District until retiring in 1992; and notably was awarded Policeman of the Year in 1984.

During retirement he delivered auto parts for NAPA of Westminster, MD. Steve was an artist who loved the race car industry and was a dirt track racing enthusiast. He combined his artistic talents with his race car passion and operated “Steve Smith Racing Replicas”, a business he created, painting model cars for family and friends.

He loved his family, spending time with his grandchildren, and adored his dog “Doc”. Surviving him are children Pamela Cook and husband Joseph of Manchester, Matthew Smith and wife Rebecca of Hanover, PA, Christine Hoshall of Riverview, FL; grandchildren Brittany, Kayla, Jodi, Sabrina, Gracie and Jack; great-grandchildren Hunter and Hektor; brothers Butch, Danny, Toe, Eddie and Tim. He was predeceased by his wife and parents as well as by his brother Sonny and sister Betty.

The family welcomes friends on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 6 to 9 pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd. , Westminster, with a Celebration of Steve’s Life starting at 8:00 pm. Interment will be private.
