George “Wes”‘s Obituary George Wesley (Wes) Cockrell died peacefully at home on May 19, 2019 at the age of 34, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Memorial Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Webster, 420 Slossen Street, Webster, Texas on Thursday, June 6th at 6pm.

Wes was born on September 26, 1984 to Ricky and Linda (Hutchinson) Cockrell in Shreveport, LA. He was a 2002 graduate of La Porte High School and has lived in La Porte, Texas since 1997. Wes was employed by Intertek AIM as an inspector.

He is survived by one daughter, Miss Savannah Cockrell, mother and stepfather, Linda and Rusty Morgan of La Porte, brothers and sisters-in-law, Nathan McNabb and wife Michelle, Britton Bettell and wife Jennifer, Kevin Cockrell and wife Misty, Jeremy Phillips and wife Brandy, a sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer (Cockrell) Azam and husband Shane Azam. paternal grandmother Bobbie (Sturdavant) Cockrell and stepmother Debbie Cockrell, both of Rison, Arkansas along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Wes is preceded in death by father, Ricky D. Cockrell, his maternal grandparents, Billy B. and Mary Lou (Mizell) Walker of Choudrant, Louisiana and his paternal grandfather, William Ray Cockrell of Rison, Arkansas.

Wes enjoyed singing and writing country music, playing hockey and drag racing. His latest project was the restoration of “Abby,” his 1999 Ram Air Trans Am. The family would like to offer special thanks to Hospice Ministries along with the doctors and staff of M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

There will be a reception immediately following the service in the church’s Family Life Center.
