Gerald Arthur “Jerry” Carr, 75, of Swanton, MD, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, Oakland, MD. Born October 2, 1943, in Annapolis, MD, he was the son of the late William A. Carr and Opal (Wagner) Fazenbaker. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Reuben S. Fazenbaker; a half-sister, Sherry Knick, who passed in November 2012.

Jerry was a self-employed truck driver and a farmer. He graduated from Southern Garrett County High School in 1960. Jerry attended the Oakland Church of the Nazarene and Highway Assembly of God Church.

He served his country in the Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte A. (Rhodes) Carr. a son, Wade Ashley Carr; a daughter, Lorena Ann Carr and her children, Benjamin Rodeheaver and Lance Storey; an uncle, Erwin Wagner and wife, Geraldine and numerous cousins.

Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Dayhoff and Pastor Joe Tichinel officiating. Interment will be in Deer Park Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the various veterans’ organizations of Southern Garrett County.
