He was born on August 15, 1949 in Ridgely, TN. Gerald was a retired supervisor of Goodyear.

He was a member and deacon at Willingham Memorial Baptist Church, where he was also active in all church activities. Gerald was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving his country during the Vietnam War. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Willingham Memorial Baptist Church with Bro.

Paul Adams and Bro. Bill McElyea officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.

Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 at the church. Survivors include his two sisters, Mary Hudson and husband, Cyler, of Ridgely and Lisa Headen and husband, Mark, of Jackson; and a grandson, Jesse Parnell of Union City.

He was preceded in death by a son, Brent Parnell; and his mother, Robbie Bell Parnell. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Byrd, Terry Johnson, Clyde Cagle, Gene Pope, Ray Moore and Glen Bargery. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
