Obituary for Geraldine H. “Jerry” Pirlot Geraldine “Jerry” Pirlot, 83, of Kingsford, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Evergreen Assisted Living Memory Care facility with family at her side. She was born August 9, 1934, daughter of the late Vincent and Gladys (Knickerbocker) Cuculi, and was raised in Channing, along with a sister, Gwen (Harvath) Johnson, and brother, Dale Cuculi. Jerry graduated from Channing High School in 1952 and then attended Gale University in Minnesota.

She worked in Chicago at the Santa Fe Railroad as a teletype operator for a couple of years. Jerry married Roger Pirlot on June 4, 1955, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Channing. They moved to Kingsford shortly after where they raised four children, Keith Pirlot, Vickie Michaud, Barbara Shivy and Kevin Pirlot.

Roger passed away in 1996. Jerry had worked at Pine Manor/Americana Nursing Home as the kitchen supervisor for 17 years and then at Freeman’s Convalescent Home for 10 years as a kitchen supervisor, until her retirement in 1997. She later worked several years part-time as a helper at the Crystal Lake Senior Center.

She decided to retire full-time when she met Tony Alleva. Together they enjoyed golfing, Bocce ball, bowling and traveling to Florida during the winter. Jerry believed in staying busy, so in retirement she starting volunteering at the nursing homes and Breen Senior Center making pasties where her and her dear friend, Tony Alleva, were honored as volunteers of the year in October 2013.

Jerry also volunteered with the Boy Scouts, Camp Fire Girls and Blue Birds when her children were younger. She loved watching her Packers and would let out a squeal when her favorite player (Brett Favre) made a big play. Jerry always made family her number one priority and enjoyed snowmobiling and camping trips with them.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Jerry is survived by her children, Keith (Polly) Pirlot, Vickie (Jeff) Michaud, Barbara Jean Shivy, and Kevin (Tina) Pirlot; her sister, Gwen Johnson; brother, Dale Cuculi; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and her very dear friend, Tony Alleva. As with her parents, Vincent & Gladys and husband, Roger, Jerry was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Shivy.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 9 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 10 at 10:30 am at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr.

Greg Michaud will offer the Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery. The family would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to all the staff at the Evergreen Memory Care Facility for their generosity and the loving care they gave our mother.
