Obituary for Gladys C. Hirschman Gladys C. Hirschman, 98, of Spring Garden Township, passed away peacefully at Country Meadows, Leaders Heights on Saturday, September 8, 2018. She was the wife of the late Robert Edwin Hirschman to whom she was married to for 64 years. Born in York on March 29, 1920, she was the only child of Ethel Diehl Cousler and Morgan Edward Cousler.

She graduated from York High School, attended Allegheny College, Erie, PA, and graduated from Cedar Crest College, Allentown, PA in 1942. In 2014, she received her 75 year award for membership in Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity. She was a member of the Country Club of York, York, PA, Coral Ridge Country Club, Ft.

Lauderdale, FL, and the First Presbyterian Church, York, PA. She enjoyed shopping, traveling to business conventions with her husband and to golf tournaments with her daughter. She was a fan of the Baltimore Colts and Penn State football.

Most of all she loved her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Constance H. Shorb and her husband, Basil A. III, of York; grandson, Matthew R. Shorb and his wife, Brooke E. of York; great granddaughter, Megan A. and great grandson, Matthew Jr.; grandson, Mark A. Shorb and his wife, Kristin M. of Cashmere, WA; and great granddaughters, Everly and Fiona. A visitation will be held at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market Street, York, PA from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018.

Burial will be at the Mount Rose Cemetery, 1502 Mount Rose Avenue, York with Dr. Timothy George officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the York County Food Bank, 254 West Princess Street, York, PA 17401 or to Caring Hospice, 101 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603, or to a charity of your choosing.
