Obituary for Idonna G. Miller Idonna G. Miller, 92, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018, at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. She was born November 22, 1925, in York, PA, to the late George F. and Fannie Mae (Seeger) Peters. She was the loving wife to the late Kenneth Richard Miller.
Survived by daughters, Marilyn (Philip) Czerkies of OK and Idonna J. of MN, and sons, Wayne (Gail) of SC, Lester (Catha) of TN, and Dennis (Cheri) of MI. She was preceded in death by her son, George. She was Grandmother of 7, Great Grandmother of 11 and Great-Great Grandmother of 1.
She is survived by brothers, Harry (Arlene) of Ft Collins CO and Warren of York PA, and Sister, Susan Peters of York, PA. She was preceded in death by 13 siblings: Fannie, Gertie, Silvia, Hilda, Thelma, Edward, Eleanora, Florance, Floyd, Alice, Martin (Lavere), Leona, and Charles, all originally from PA. Idonna was born and raised on a farm.
She had a witty/sarcastic sense of humor when you got to know her. When young she wrote poems that were published in the local paper. During WWII she wrote letters to prisoners of war, which was how she met Kenneth her husband.
She was a homemaker, DAV Flea Market vendor, and life member of DAV Auxiliary #129. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, crocheting, playing games/cards, putting puzzles together, country and gospel music, watching the Game Show Network, and helping her family. (She use to make THE BEST kettle Potato Chips, and neighbors used to buy them!
) She still canned jellies, chow chow, corn relish, and pickles and sold them. She collected owls, and previously collected stamps and postcards. She used to travel with her husband, and she had collected magnets from most of the states.
She used to say her Dad said, “If we were meant to fly, we would have been born with wings”. Now she has her wings! She is going home both to PA and to be with her Heavenly Father, her Husband, and her son.
We love you Mom! A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 East Market Street, York. Viewings will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. both at the funeral home.
