Gretchen Ann Wagner Carey , November 01, 1930 — June 11, 2018

Gretchen Ann Wagner Carey, 87, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at 4:46 a.m., on June 11, 2018, at Haven Skilled Rehabilitation and Nursing in Lock Haven. She was born in Hyde City (Clearfield County), the daughter of Gurney F. Senior and Annabelle B. Wagner, on November 1, 1930, one of six children. She is survived by her son, Shawn (Deb) Carey, and sister Mary (Tom) Lucas, all from Lock Haven as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, three sisters and one brother predeceased her. The family thanks her loving neighbor Sara Reichert, who was always helping her in many ways. Gretchen was a life member of First Baptist Church in Lock Haven and found much joy in the visits she received from Pastor Doug Packard and his wife Jill.

She always had her radio tuned to WJSA for biblical teachings as well as her other favorite stations. In her early life, Gretchen knit many argyle socks and gave them as gifts to friends. Throughout her professional career, beginning at a very young age, she worked tirelessly alongside her Father, for well over half of her life at Wagner And Son Radio/TV Center on East Main Street in Lock Haven, until it closed in 1987.

Then in 1988, Gretchen began the next chapter of her retail career at the Woolrich Company Store. For over two decades, countless customers from across the country, would visit her specifically to rely on her expertise, while purchasing high quality blankets, furniture and so much more. She embodied unparalleled loyalty and integrity as an outstanding representative of the companies that employed her.

She was in failing health over the past several months. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services or visitation. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
