He was born on December 26, 1939 in Onomea, Hawaii. He was a retired police officer for the Hawaii County Police Department; a law enforcement officer at Hilo International Airport for Securitas; and former member of the Hawaii Army National Guard.

He was a former civil sheriff and former truck driver for S.K. Oda and Sonomura. He was the owner for House of Carpets; HJD Auto Body Repair; HDP Water Hauling; and HDP Car Carriers. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday (Feb.

21, 2019) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo; Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Friday (Feb. 22, 2019) at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hilo; Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire and no flowers.
