Harold “George” Russell, Sr., age 89, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 6:55 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital Evansville. George was born July 22, 1929, in Kokomo, IN, to Frank Russell, Sr. and Maude Mae (Wiggins) Russell. He graduated from Bosse High School in 1947.

George was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a 50 year member of Lessing Masonic Lodge 464, Scottish Rite, and Hadi Shrine. He spent 46 years in electrical maintenance at Whirlpool Corporation.

He was an avid attendee of the Kentucky Derby. George is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Virginia “Jenny” (Engelhardt) Russell; children, Cynthia Todd (Douglas), George Russell, Jr. (Patricia), Karen Hobgood (Billy); brother-in-law, Charles A. Engelhardt (Judy); grandchildren, Jamie Russell, Ryan Todd, and Sean Russell; great grandchild, Alex Russell; and 5 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Frank E. Russell, Jr. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Allen and Kindred Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend John Sloan officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Elberfeld. Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.

Lessing Masonic Lodge 464 will conduct a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Hadi Shrine Endowment Fund, 6 Walnut Street, Evansville, IN 47708 or Vanderburgh County Humane Society, 400 Millner Drive, Evansville, IN 47710.
