Harriette Humphries Baxley, 83, wife of the late William David Baxley, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at her daughter’s residence, after an illness. Mrs. Baxley was born in Prospect, daughter of the late Bishop Thomas Humphries and Maude Lawrimore Humphries. She was a member of Prospect Independent Methodist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Ann Baxley (Ronnie) Poston of Lake City; son, Thomas (Jeanie) Baxley of Mount Pleasant; brother, Jeffrey Humphries of Lake City; sister-in-law, Betsy Humphries of Johnsonville; grandchildren, Lee Poston and David (Cassi) Poston, both of Lake City, Callie Baxley and Web Baxley, both of Mount Pleasant. Mrs. Baxley was preceded in death by her brother, John Thomas Humphries and sister-in-law, Lou Humphries. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Prospect Independent Methodist Church, Johnsonville.

Burial, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, will be at Powell Cemetery, Prospect. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday, April 27, 2018, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton and other times at her daughter’s home, 211 Nesmith Street, Lake City, SC. Memorials may be made to Prospect Independent Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 178, Johnsonville, SC 29555.
