Born to the late Robert Francis (Frank) Hoag and Lena Houck Hoag of Tully, NY, Helen spent most of her life in Tully as generations of her family did, enjoying family and friends. Upon graduating from Tully H.S., Helen went on to attend Syracuse University, where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.

She was proud of being a student at SU and loved reminiscing about her time there. She then received her Associates degree from a business school in NYC and went on to work at SU’s College of Medicine. Helen’s mother Lena was instrumental in establishing Green Lakes Swimming Area in Tully which Helen frequented when younger.

It was here where she met her husband Ray Williams, whose family lived in Syracuse and owned a Summer cottage on Tully Lake. Helen and Ray were married in 1950. Her favorite activities included golfing and playing bridge with her long time Tully friends.

Decks of cards and golf balls could be easily found at her house or cottage on Tully Lake. She also had the bug most local people do, and for years was an avid SU Men’s Basketball fan. She enjoyed watching the N.Y. Yankees and following Tiger Woods’ golf career as well.

Helen was a voracious reader, at times devouring a book in a day or two. She enjoyed working for many years in the Tully H.S. Library, as it not only provided reading material, but also allowed her to be a part of her three children’s lives as they attended school in Tully. Helen loved her family, friends and meeting new people.

If you knew her and stopped by to say hello, she always welcomed you with, “would you like something to eat or drink? ” You knew that her asking was her way of showing her love. Helen was lucky to live for over 90 years among those she loved and we were luck to have had her with us.

She will truly be missed. Helen was predeceased by her husband Raymond Williams, a brother Robert Hoag, of Twin Falls, ID and a sister Margaret Arcement of Lake Charles, LA. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Rolf Johansen, daughter Terry Taylor, son Mark Williams, all of Tully, a granddaughter Kaila Westervelt and her husband Kyle of Syracuse, as well as nieces Teresa (& Wiley) Lane of Huber City, UT, Susan (& Glenn) Davis and daughter Jolie of Napa, CA.

A service of remembrance will be held at the Tully United Community Church, Meeting House Road, on March 9 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Francis House, Hospice of CNY or Tully United Community Church.
