Obituary for Henry Douglas Carter Andover, Virginia Henry Douglas (Doug) Carter, 77, entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, July 22, 2018, after a brief battle with lung cancer. Doug attended Andover Community Church and was a man of God who loved hunting, gardening, and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Charles Carter; mother, Mary Smith; step-father, Ed Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jo and Earl Hubbard; brother-in-law, D.J. Crum; and sister-in-law, Theresa Ann Carter. Survivors include sister, Carol Crum of Andover; brother, Charles Reeser Carter of Utah; and brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Geneva Carter of Andover. He had many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at the Roy A. Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tony Nunley officiating.

Family and friends will meet at American Legion Cemetery on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at 11 a.m. for the graveside service. Pallbearers will be David Crum, Ronnie Crum, Tavin Stanley, Spencer Stanley, Kathan Stanley, and Jeremy Stanley. The Carter family would like to extend a special thanks to Ballad Hospice Care, especially, Stephanie, Paytria, and Freida, for taking such wonderful care of Doug.
