Henry Ernest Ramey, 77, husband of the late Betty Carol Gilden Ramey, of 1633 Playground Road, Walhalla, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019, at GHS Cottingham Hospice House. A native of Oconee County, SC, Mr. Ramey was the son of the late Henry Ernest, Sr. “Si” and Reecie Isabell Cannon Ramey. He graduated from Clemson University where he received his BS and Master’s degrees and later worked as a beloved math teacher for the Oconee County School District.

Mr. Ramey was a veteran of the South Carolina Air National Guard. Mr. Ramey is survived by his daughter: Heather Kristine Ramey Ramsay (Alexander “Rex”) of Westminster; step-sons: Travis Scott Holstead of Seneca and David Tristan Holstead (Melissa) of Texas; sisters: Mary Lou Ramey Hamilton and Druwilla Isabell Ramey McKee both of Walhalla; and two grandchildren: Kylie Rebecca “Scout” Stephens and Ramey Wilson Stephens. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Oconee Hospice of the Foothills, GHS Cottingham Hospice House, Attn: Foundation Office, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672.
