Ida’s Obituary Ida Emma Folken, age 95, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the daughter of Fred Louie and Alice Faye (Sells) Hugh on April 22, 1923, at their home in New Hartford, Iowa. She attended New Hartford High School. On January 20, 1943, Ida was united in marriage with John Folken at Coster Christian Reformed Church in rural Allison, Iowa.

After their marriage, Ida worked on their farm by New Hartford and was a homemaker. She enjoyed canning, gardening, baking and raising their daughters. Ida was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg.

She was active in the Sunshine Circle and taught Sunday School and Bible School. Ida’s greatest joy was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ida died Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center, Iowa.

Ida is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John on November 23, 1992; her parents, Fred and Alice Hugh; five sisters, Julia Weers, Betty Richter, Lois Bertram, Francis Haan and Faye Bass; and one brother, Donald Hugh. Ida is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Bruce) Bravard of Ankeny, Iowa, and Diane (Mike) Van Mill of Shell Rock, Iowa; six grandchildren, Bryan (Annette) Bravard, Janae (Eric) Griffith, Brent Van Mill, Michelle Van Mill, Malinda (Tim) McCandless, and Mashon (Stephanie) Van Mill; thirteen great grandchildren, Conner (Erin) Bravard, Cameron (Rachel) Griffith, Madison (Jake) Stacey, Quincy Griffith, Bailey Bravard, Carter McCandless, Andrew Pierce, Caleb McCandless, Mason Van Mill, Makenna Van Mill, Burkley Van Mill, Cate McCandless and Brecken Van Mill; one brother, Louie (Linda) Hugh; one sister, Joan Mayfield; one brother-in-law, Melvin Tjepkes and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 23, at the Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery in New Hartford.

Visitation will be one hour before services on Saturday, at the Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to Parkersburg Ambulance or Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg.
