James William “Billy” Thomas, Sr., 86, of Florence, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019. Mr. Thomas was born a son of the late Jessie Scurry Thomas and James Haskell Thomas. He was a draftsman having worked for Vulcraft and Socar.

Mr. Thomas was a veteran of the US Army during Korean War. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jackqueline Thomas.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his daughter, Gaye T. Lee (Tim) of Florence; sons, James W. “Jim” Thomas, Jr. (Susan) and Joey Thomas (Paige), both of Florence; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 1, 2019, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at Florence Memorial Gardens.
