V. Byrd Anderson, 88, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. Mr. Anderson was born a son of the late Madeline Saverence Anderson and Jesse Anderson. He graduated from Timmonsville High School and attend Free Will Baptist Bible College.

He loved sports, especially basketball. Mr. Anderson was active in his church and his passion was working and speaking for the Gideons. He retired from the US Air Force after serving 22 years.

He and his family served at numerous bases in the US and overseas. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Inez Hyman Anderson; sister, O’Zella Oates and brother, Charles Ellington Anderson. Mr. Anderson is survived by his daughters, Pam Anderson Hutchinson (Stacey) and Renee L. Anderson; sister, Helen McIver Timmons and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 22, 2019, at Peace Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Elon Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery near Pamplico directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Gideons, Lake City Camp, P. O. Box 1263, Lake City, SC 29560. Please sign the tribute wall for the family at www.
