James “Bubba” Haney, 73, of Florence, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019, at McLeod Hospice House. Mr. Haney was born in Florence, SC, a son of the late Ruby Powers Haney and Boggan Haney. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in Korea.

He was a machinist, retiring from ESAB after 43 years of service and also retiring from Calder Machine Company. Mr. Haney loved to fish and camp but loved his family most of all. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Marta Miles Haney; brothers, Laverne “Red” Haney and Boggan “BeBop” Haney; and sister, Judy (Ronnie) Bazen.

Surviving are his sons, Bryan (Tamy) Haney and Kyle (Kim) Haney, both of Florence; grandchildren, C. J. Haney (Emily), Melinda Jernigan (Eric) and Karmin Haney; great-grandchildren, Conner Biddix, Chloe Biddix, Rylee Haney, and Myla Jernigan; sisters, Carolyn (George) Gainey of Florence and Marie (Robbie) Smith of Southport, NC and sister-in-law, Iva Haney. Funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Community Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Thompson Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Carolyn Gainey. Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice House, P. O.
