Obituary for James E. “Jay” Kirby James E. “Jay” Kirby, II, 62, of St. Albans passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in South Charleston to the late James E. and Collyn Elizabeth (Wolf) Kirby. Jay was retired from the United States Postal Service where he had made many friends and memories over the years working there.
He was a proud West Virginian. Jay was a graduate of St. Albans High School, class of 1975. SGT James Kirby was a US Army active duty veteran as a Combat Engineer (Float Bridge) at Fort Belvoir where he was also awarded the Fort Belvoir Soldier of the Year.
After his active duty time, he served as a member of the WVNG, D Co., 1092nd Engineer Battalion in St. Albans WV. He was a very loving and protective husband, father, brother, uncle, pawpaw and friend to anyone who knew him. Surviving is his loving wife, Renee S. Kirby; son, Daniel James Kirby (Misty) of Scott Depot; Sister, Debbie Richmond (Dan) of New Jersey; brother, John Kirby (Cindy) of Wintergarden, Fl.
; grandchildren, Jacob, Chelsea, Andrew, Jayden Kirby; nephew and nieces; Erica, Chad, Heather, Riley and Sean of John and Cindy Kirby, Jared of Debbie and Dan Richmond; Carissa and Corey Davis; Elizabeth Hippchen; Lucy Davis; Casey, Brandon and Lindsey Davis. The Kirby family would like to thank Mark, Lynne and Kathy from the Hospice team for their care and support. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans with Rev.
Joel M. Harpold and Minister Rick McCormick officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans with Military honors. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
