James Larkin Lambert, 89, of Asheboro, died Thursday, February 7, 2019, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 11, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Rev. Dr. Marc Putnam officiating.

A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m., at Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Bennett, with Rev. Kenneth Tucker officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

Born in Chatham County, NC, on November 4, 1929, Mr. Lambert was the son of the late Charles Wesley Lambert and Linnie Lee Murray Lambert. He retired from Cone Mills Corporation after 49 years of service. He served in the US Army, Artillery division, during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Convenant Church in Greensboro. From a young age, James had a love for reading, and listening to operas and classical music. He had a vast knowledge of the world in general.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lambert was preceded in death by his sisters, Grace Sewell, Esther Lambert, Bartre Sleyster; and brother, George Lambert. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Dawn Ellen Barbour Lambert; daughter, Carol Lambert Yow (Donnie); sons, James “Jim” Barbour Lambert (Barbara), David Larkin Lambert; sister, Mary Woodring (Don); five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., Monday, February 11, 2019 and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the music ministries at Trinity Evangelical Covenant Church, 5200 W. Friendly Ave. , Greensboro, NC 27410 or First Presbyterian Church, 420 W. Walker Ave. , Asheboro, NC 27203; or to Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Redding, Dr. Jay Patel, Dr. DeQuincy Lewis and the nurses and staff of Hospice of Randolph for the compassionate care given to James.
