Obituary of James Fierstos James A. Fierstos, 84, Somerset, went to be with the Lord in his home on Saturday, January 19, 2019. He was born in Somerset to the late Victor J. and Mary A. (Brady) Fierstos. On September 18, 1954, he married Mary Atkinson, and she preceded him in death.

James was a 1952 graduate of Somerset High School. He retired from Dana Corporation in Marion, where he was an inspector. He held memberships with the Izaak Walton League, the Huntsman of Indiana, and Dana Camping Clubs.

He attended Grace Community Church in Marion. It was at a square dance at the Gray Barn where James met his wife. They loved to go camping and spend time at their lake cottage near Traverse City, MI.

James enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his children: Anna M. (Donald) Shanks, Muncie; Michael D. Fierstos, CA; Janet K. (Brian) Lyons, Roann; and Phillip R. (Amanda Stinson) Fierstos, Wabash; grandchildren: Travis (Rena Stanton) Fierstos, Sarah (Brian) Collyear, Bethany (Adam) Deeds, Victor Lyons, Joshua Fierstos, Nicholas (Mackenzie) Fierstos, Kaitlyn Fierstos, and Zachary Fierstos; several great-grandchildren; sister, Joan Coburn, Fort Wayne; sisters-in-law, Lucia Fierstos, AL, and Helen Adkins, Somerset; and brother-in-law, Dale Kilgore, Marion.

Also preceding him in death were his brother, Robert Fierstos, and brother-in-law, William Coburn. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave. , Marion, IN.

James’ funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will follow at Mississinewa Memorial Cemetery in Somerset.
