James Albert Welker, Sr. 65 of Parkersburg, passed away September 30, 2018 at the Muskingum Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born September 16, 1953 in Parkersburg, a son of the late Phillip A. and Cora M. (Elliott) Welker. Jim retired from The Avery Corporation in Cleveland as a Machine Operator.

He also worked as a Cook for the Cracker Barrel and The Old Corral. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a Parkersburg High graduate in 1971. Jim was a Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers fan as well as the WVU Mountaineers.

Surviving is his son James A. Welker II of Fairport Harbor, OH, daughter Jessica Rathbun (Erik) of Northfield Center, OH, four sisters: Norma Crist of Jacksonville, FL, Amy Williams of Watkinsville, GA, Mary Easton of Meridian, ID and Georgia Shaw (Doug) of Mulberry, FL, two brothers: Phillip Welker II (Carol) Chillicothe, OH and Thomas Welker (Charlene) of Mineral Wells, WV, as well as two grandchildren: Ella and Ethan Rathbun. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two twin sisters: Corlene and Carlene Welker. Funeral services will be Thursday 1PM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Aaron Stinnett officiating.

Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8PM. Online guests may send condolences to the family by visiting www.
