Jean Elaine Curry November 05, 1926 – February 23, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Jean Elaine (Detsch) Curry, 92, of Harleysville, PA; formerly of Telford & Philadelphia, PA went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Grand View Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Dale Laverne Curry for 37 years. Jean was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Earl Detsch and the late Ethel (Hudson) Detsch-Morris.

She graduated from Kensington High School, class of 1944. Jean attended Philadelphia College of the Bible and Nursing School. Jean worked as a secretary at the former Philco-Ford in Philadelphia, for the former Vogel & Feingold in Telford, for Shelly & Fenstermacher in Souderton, for Farm Bureau in Souderton, and for Calvary Church in Souderton.

She was a member of Calvary Church where she served as a deaconess, was part of the Barnabas team, taught Sunday school, and sang in the choir. While residing at Peter Becker Community, Jean volunteered for the annual flower show and other various activities. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

Jean enjoyed word search and crossword puzzles, Rummikub, drawing, and watching Family Feud and Jeopardy. She was an avid reader of the Bible and Christian literature. Jean enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the US.

She also enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a godly, kind, caring lady who had a good sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes and stories.

She is survived by her three sons, William Charles Curry & wife, Patricia of Philadelphia, PA, James Steven Curry & wife, Susan of Harleysville, PA, Robert Dale Curry & wife, Julie of Perkasie, PA; her daughter, Susan Denise Curry of Telford, PA; her eight grandchildren – Joshua, Rachel, Caitlinn, Abigail, Jacob, Amanda, Ryan, & Alyssa; and her half-brother, Jimmy Morris & wife, Phyllis of Upper Black Eddy, PA. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by her step-father, Royal F. Morris. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Calvary Church, 820 Souderton Road (Route 113), Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964 from 9:30 am – 11:00 am.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11:00 am at Calvary Church, 820 Souderton Road (Route 113), Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964. Burial will take place at Calvary Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Cornerstone Community Church, 3167 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19134.
