Jesse Theodore “Ted” Walker, Jr. May 18, 1935 – December 09, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card FLORENCE – Jesse Theodore “Ted” Walker, Jr., 83, died on December 9, 2018, at McLeod Hospital following a chronic illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Sara Gardner Walker. He was born in Florence, SC, on May 18, 1935, to Jesse Theodore Walker, Sr., and Rosa Humphries Lowman.

He is the father of two children with his predeceased wife, Joyce Sanderson Walker: Michael Theodore Walker of Easley, South Carolina, and Joan Walker Hardin (Scott) of Atlanta, Georgia. He has a grandchild, Anne Walker Hardin, of Atlanta. Other immediate family include Bryan Stackley Carter, William Bradley Carter, both of Florence, and Kavik Carter of Asheville, NC.

Mr. Walker graduated from McClenaghan High School and Newberry College. He was a counselor for Palmetto Center in Florence. He was a long-time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class.

A lifetime passion of Ted’s was shag dancing. He was a member of the Florence Shag Club and was selected to the Living Legends of North Myrtle Beach. Mr. Walker rarely met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 13, 2018, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Palmetto St., Florence, SC. His loved ones will receive family and friends before the service at 1:00 p.m. in the church Family Life Center. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church (www. stpumcflo.org). Waters-Powell Funeral Home is assisting the family of Mr. Walker.
