Obituary for Joanne Sabatini Joanne Sabatini, a longtime resident of Beacon, passed away peacefully at Ferncliff Nursing Home, Rhinebeck on September 4, 2018. She was 71 years old. Joanne was born in Yonkers on August 29, 1947 the daughter of the late Chester Smith and Vincentine Fazio Smith.

She retired as a secretary for the Beacon City School District, where she worked at both Rombout Middle School and Beacon High School. She was a member of the Beacon Elks Lodge 1493 and the Italian American Club. Joanne is survived by her children, Christina Pierantozzi and husband, Tom and their children, Kristin and Nick, John Sabatini and wife, Kimberly and their children, Jamison, Ty and Aidan and Laura Lane and husband, Justin and their children, Kyle and Jessica; her sister, Kathy Moffatt and husband, Robert; her companion, Al Zimmerman; her sisters-in-law, Angie Rubio (Eddie), Connie Sabatini, and Elissa Scopino (Mauro); her brother-in-law, Gus Hertel.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Lam; her sisters-in-law, Ann D’Arco (Augie) and Jeanne Hertel; her companion, Al Zimmerman; her former husband, Anthony Sabatini. Family and friends will gather on Saturday, September 8 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 p.m. at St. Joachim Church, 51 Leonard Street, Beacon.
