Obituary for Joseph A. Seranto Joseph A. Seranto, a lifelong resident of Beacon, passed away on October 18, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 88 years old. Joseph was born on July 4, 1930 in Beacon, the son of the late Anthony and Carmella Abazzia Seranto.

Joseph married the former Rachele Casso. Mrs. Seranto survives at home. Joseph retired from National Biscuit in Beacon.

“Poppy” enjoyed making focaccia bread, gardening, metal detecting, teasing his grandchildren and they loved their “Pepperoni Poppy”. He also enjoyed stamp and coin collecting and the Maybrook Flea Market. In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by his children, Denise Fortin and husband, Tom, Lori Pandolfi and husband, Vincent and Joseph M. Seranto; his grandchildren, Rebecca Provost and husband, Marc, Marc Fortin, Jessica Snyder and husband, Michael, Anthony Pandolfi, Gabrielle Pandolfi, Nichole Seranto and Joseph Seranto; his great grandchildren, Gianna and Luke Provost, Myla and Deni Snyder, Hunter Fortin and Benjamin Seranto; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Gonzalez, Geraldine Critelli and Peter Seranto. Family and friends will gather on Monday, October 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Joachim Church, 51 Leonard Street, Beacon.

Entombment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill. Memorial donations in memory of Joseph may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www. stjude.org/donate.
