Juan “Johnny” Colon, 79 of Perth Amboy, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Atrium at Matawan with his family by his side. Johnny was born and raised in Caguas, Puerto Rico and came to Brooklyn, New York and then to Perth Amboy for the last 40 years. He was employed by Englert, Inc., Perth Amboy for 18 years as a machine operator.

Johnny was an avid baseball fan and he loved his New York Mets. He was a hard working man and loved spending time with his family and friends especially cooking for them and his best dish was the Arroz con Gandules. He is preceded in death by his loving parents Victorio and Elisa ( nee Ramos ); dear brother of Raul, Maria “Gena” E., Maria “Chelo” M. Colon.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years Maria Acosta; beloved father of Maria Colon and Juan Vargas, Juan Jr. and his wife Dawn Colon and Jose and his wife Luz Colon; dear brother of Luis “Tony”, Tomas, Benigino “Nino”, Sonia, Carmen “Vivia” , Santiago “Chito”, Guillermina “Gilla” and Jesus “Nito” Colon; adored grandfather of 9 and great ~ grandfather of 4; cherished uncle of many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 8:30 pm at the Gustav J. Novak Funeral home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy. Interment will be private.

Visiting is on Wednesday from 2 ~ 4 & & ~ 9 pm.
