Joseph G. Kenney, age 89, of Grand Rapids passed away on May 17, 2018 at Sentinel Pointe Retirement Home in Grand Rapids. Joe was born on January 2, 1929 to Joseph and Edna (Gifford) Kenney. Joe served his country proudly for 20 years in the United States Army serving in the Korean War where he received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.

After retiring from the US Army, he worked another 20 years for Michigan Bell where he was a manager. He loved to fly and was a voracious reader. Joe is survived by: children Michael (Julie), John, Paul (Debby), Mark, Patricia, David (Sandy) and Kevin (Margaret), many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those that have preceded Joe in death are: his parents, wife of 52 years Joanne (Bowman) Kenney, sister Eileen Green, daughter in law Aimee Asbridge. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery.
