Joseph “Randell” Thompson, Jr., 64, of Perry Ave. , Stanton Island, NY, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at his residence. He was born, September 25, 1954 in Cabarrus County to the late Joseph R. Thompson, Sr. and the late Joyce Young Smith.

Randell was a 1972 graduate of Concord High School and a graduate of North Carolina Central University. He served in the United States Air Force and was currently employed with the State of New York as a Code Enforcer. Services are pending at this time.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a half-sister, Elizabeth L. Jenkins. Those left to cherish fond memories include one sister, Melva S. Drye of Concord; two brothers, Michael Todd Smith (Theresa), Rodney Dean Smith (Tara) both of Concord; one uncle, William R. Young of St. Louis, MO; one aunt, Mazella Young Steele of Concord; three nieces, Sutavia Johnson, Ariana Smith, Mirissa Smith; four nephews, Jimmy Drye, Jr., Devin Smith, Dwayne Jenkins, Darryll Jenkins and a host of other relatives and friends.
