A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date Joseph M. Skwish, 55, of Elizaville, died peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Joe was born in Scranton, PA on July 27, 1963.

He grew up in Lake Katrine and graduated from Kingston High School. Joe worked at Kingston Trailways as a master body technician. Joe was the kindest of souls and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

His work ethic and his ability to fix cars could not be surpassed. He could rebuild any type of vehicle. One of his proudest moments was when Governor Andrew M. Cuomo asked him to personally work on his cars.

Joe loved motocross, snowmobiling, and anything and everything to do with cars. Joe never let his disease stop him from whatever he set out to do. Although he had no children of his own, he treated his three nephews as though they were his own.

Joe was the beloved son of the late Joseph W. and Marcia A. Skwish. He is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Tomaine, of Archbald, PA; nephews, Ryan Tomaine and wife Lindsey, of Bogart, GA; Nicholas Tomaine of Raleigh, NC; and Matthew Tomaine of Archbald, PA. In addition to Joe’s family, he is survived by his life partner, Victoria and a countless number of friends.

His family would like to personally thank Philip Schaeffer, Lenny Hubbard and wife Kathy, Major Steve Nevens, John Augustine, and Gene Berardi for the love and support they showed Joe. Memorial contributions can be made to the Cancer Research Institute, N.Y, N.Y or Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck, NY.
