Josephine M. (Giammaria) Polacek, 93, of Baden, died Sunday, April 22, 2018 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 11, 1925, in Ambridge, Pa. , to the late Charles and Mary Lolli Giammaria.

She retired as an auto parts clerk for Sears Auto Center and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Baden. She was a volunteer for Sewickley Valley Hospital Ladies Auxiliary for over 20 years. Josephine was a member and past president of the Baden American Legion Post 641 Ladies Auxillary where she was also a member of the ladies choir.

She was an avid Pirate and Penguins fan. She had a passion for cooking and baking for her family and proudly passed on her culinary talent to her daughters. Josephine enjoyed life and always had a smile to share.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was a sister, Pauline Giammaria Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Steve F. Polacek, three daughters, Charlene (Richard) Hanzevack of Cape Coral, FL, Stephanie (John) Polachek, of Ohioville, Susan (John) Hood of Baden, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two sisters, Eleanor Shemelya of Mesa, AZ. and Frances Farelli of Sewickley, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Thursday from 10:30 until time of prayers at 11:15 A.M. in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in Good Samaritan Cemetery.
