Obituary of Joy A. Thomas Joy A. Thomas, 77, of Bay City, our loving, selfless, kind, and very reful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend was born into eternal life on the morning of Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Brian’s House. Joy was born in Bay City on December 1, 1940, the daughter of the late Anton and Adina Frieders. She graduated from St. James High School and went on to attend the former Bay City Junior College and University of Detroit, where she was an English/Literature major.

Joy worked for her father at City Dairy, Rite Aid, Kroger, and her most favorite job – being a “Granny Nanny”. She enjoyed Zumba, watching her grandkids play in the band, watching her girls in their dance recitals, walking her granddogs, riding her bike, dancing (she was very young at heart), but most of all, spending time with her three daughters and their families. Her devoted and kind ways will never be forgotten.

Joy leaves to cherish her memory, her three daughters, Tammy Thomas (Steve Siebold), Traci (John) Garippa, and Tricia (Mike) Michalski; grandchildren, John & Matthew Garippa, Mia & Max Michalski, and Avalon Siebold; siblings, Daniel Frieders, Carol Zingg, and Dona Nicholson; in-laws, Jacqueline Frieders, William (Pat) Thomas, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Joy was welcomed home to heaven by her husband, Bernard J. Thomas; siblings, Barbara Kienbaum, Kenneth Frieders, Winnifred Brennan, Susan Villaire, and her in-laws, Robert Kienbaum, James Brennan, Frederick Zingg, Edward Villaire, and Richard (Geri) Thomas. Joy’s family will be present to receive visitors on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 6:00 PM Vigil for Joy at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd.

, Hampton Twp. Cremation will follow. On Wednesday, November 21, 2018, Joy will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Esville, where visiting will continue from 9:00 AM until Joy’s 10:00 AM Memorial Liturgy.

Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with the Rite of Committal to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Brian’s House.
