ELLA JOYCE MERRITT SCHOFIELD Joyce was born on a cold, snowy morning on February 18, 1933, to Claudena Hannah Barnum and Claude LeRoy Merritt in Star Valley, Wyoming, on the Merritt family farm in Bedford, Wyoming. She passed peacefully Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Ogden Regional Hospital. She married Robert L. Schofield in Syracuse, Utah, July 29, 1949.

The marriage was later sealed in the Ogden Latter-day Saint Temple, September 1986. She and her husband worked many years helping with sealings and as ordinance workers together at the Ogden Temple. They had one daughter, Roberta.

Joyce was an Avon Representative for many years and also worked as a Bus Assistant with Davis School District. She loved gardening, cooking, baking and quilting. She enjoyed being at home as a homemaker.

She was a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints and served in various positions throughout her lifetime. Visiting Teaching was her monthly priority. She loved and helped with all of her grandchildren and several of her great grandchildren while parents went off to work or college.

She loved tending and spoiling her grandchildren. Sincere thanks especially to Shaylyn Gailey, CNA, who kindly and patiently attended to Joyce at their home and case workers Melba Tremble and Sheryl Knight at Davis Senior Services all these years. Special thank you to the Ogden Regional doctor, staff and nurses who were so kind and gentle with Joyce her last few days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Joseph Coletti, 3 sisters; Betty Jean Sawaya Cheney (Marr), Juanita Sawaya Stephenson (John), Caren Coletti Ciampini and brother in law Vincent Wolski. She is survived by her husband, Robert, her daughter Roberta Wilson, (Brad), five grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren, sister Deanna Colleen Coletti Wolski, brother in laws; Bruce Schofield, (Mary), Calvin Schofield, Ernest Ciampini and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Thursday, December 20, 2018, Huckleberry Ward 2500 W Syracuse 12:00 PM, with a viewing prior to the services 11:00 -11:45 AM.
