Obituary for Michael Payton Michael Payton, 61, passed away December 17, 2018 at home in Harrisville, UT with family by his side. He was born August 11, 1957 to Robert and Ione Phipps Payton. He grew up in Ogden where he attended Ogden Schools and graduated from Ben Lomond High School.
He worked as a substance Abuse counselor for over 20 years. He was gifted in his work and was able to help many people overcome their addictions. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
He was the Ultimate “Outdoorsman” He liked teaching people, showing people the ropes in outdoor activities. He especially enjoyed teaching kids how to fish. He loved his dog Libby and she was a huge part of his life.
He did things his own way and had a sarcastic sense of humor but he also had a kind and loving heart and would do anything for his family and friends. He had the gift of making friends and had special lifelong friendships with many. His friends were treated as if they were his family.
He is survived by his Children: Bert Payton (Erin), John Payton (Rebecca), Brock Payton (Brittany), Jake Payton; 9 Grandchildren, Siblings; Toni Moore (Kraig), Johnny Payton. He was preceded in death by his parents and Grandson: Wesley Payton. The family would like to thank Toni and Kraig, IHC Hospice nurses Julie and Ann Marie and friends, Randy Greene and Randy and Jill Porter for the care and friendship extended to Mike.
They would like to also express appreciation to Mike’s many friends and family that made his last year fulfilled. A celebration of Mike’s Life will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11:00a.m. at Provident Funeral Home 3800 Washington Blvd. , Ogden, UT.
Viewings will be held Thursday from 6:00-8:00p.m. and Friday from 9:00-11:00a.m. The family suggests donations to be made to America First Credit Union to The Michael Payton Memorial Fund.
