Juliana G. “Jan” Melander, 84, of Owensboro, Kentucky died April 18, 2018 at Hermitage Care & Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. She was born October 19, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Florence Catherine Curry Glover and John Heyward Glover, V. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority at the University of Minnesota where she graduated with a BA and was Sigma Nu Sweetheart her senior year. She was a former member of AAUW and League of Women Voters.

Jan was a member of the Daviess County Republican Women’s Club, a board member of the Friends of the Library and secretary-treasurer of the Owensboro Symphony Alliance. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Altar Guild. She is survived by her husband of almost 63 years, Harlan P. Melander; sons, Harlan Paul Melander, Jr. (Deborah P.) and Charles Heyward Melander (Shelia E.); grandchildren, Major Andrew P. Melander (Laura), Christopher A. Melander (Molly), Ryan A. Melander (Sarah) and Matthew T. Melander; and four great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will he held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church. Visitation is from 1:00 p.m.to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church. James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.
