Karey’s Obituary Karey P Kurtz, age 70, of Ashland, passed away with her loving family by her side, on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at her residence. She was born July 19, 1948, in Fargo, ND, the daughter of John “Jack” and Katherine (Thompson) Sarff. In 1966, she graduated from Washington High School, in St. Paul, MN and in 1968, she graduated from the Ancker School of Nursing, in St. Paul, MN.

On December 27, 1968, she married William N. “Bill” Kurtz Sr., in Ironwood, MI. For 17 years, she worked at Memorial Medical Center, in Ashland. Karey also worked at several other facilities throughout her working career.

She liked all animals, except for snakes. Karey enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a kind, caring, and loving mother, sister, and friend.

She is survived by four children, William (Cherie) Kurtz Jr., Lake Nebagamon, Amy (Bill) Moore, Ashland, Heather Kurtz, Ashland, and Raemy Parent, Appleton; five grandchildren, Beth, Ashley, Maddy, Stefanie, and Billy; a sister, Janie (Dennis) Slusher, Stillwater, MN; numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Tammy Kurtz, Washburn; and her fur babies, Beau, Timmy, and Grace. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 46 years, Bill, on June 12, 2015. Private family services were held.

Memorials may be made to the Chequamegon Humane Society or to the Democratic Party. Arrangements are by Frost Home for Funerals and Ashland Crematory Service.
