Obituary for Karl R. Witschonke Karl R. Witschonke passed away on December 13, 2018 after a long illness. Karl was born on August 17, 1943 in Tacoma Park, Maryland. He graduated from Darien High School and the University of Bridgeport.

After graduation, Karl entered the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in Guam and flew missions into Vietnam. Lt.

Witschonke was awarded the National Defense Service Medallion, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation and Air Medal. He also served at the United States Naval Academy. After leaving the Navy, Karl worked for Corning Glass Works and several other large corporations, but his real loves were the ocean, sailing, and carpentry.

He spent many years restoring his home in Dobbs Ferry where his wife, Ellen, still resides. The house is a wonderful legacy that he has left for his family. Karl is survived by his wife, Ellen Davis, son, Karl Witschonke, step-children, Jenifer Davis Stein and Joshua Davis, and seven wonderful grandchildren, Taylor, Connor, Skylar, Amanda, Abigail, Cole, and Jacob.

A celebration of Karl’s life will take place at the Chapel at the FDR Montrose Veterans Hospital in Montrose, NY on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 11:00 am. All are invited.
