Kathleen Stack Atchison, 95, went home to be with the Lord April 25, 2018. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 12:00PM Noon April 27, 2018 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel with Rev. Kim Wolverton officiating.

The family will visit with friends from 11:00AM until time for the service Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery. A lifelong resident of Colfax in Guilford County, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Mary Amanda Hastings and Benjamin Houghton Stack.

She graduated from the former Colfax High School. She was married to the late Marvin McClain Atchison, who died October 1, 2015. In addition to her parents and husband, she also was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Ann Atchison Spainhour, sister Pearl Stack, and brothers Howard Stack, Dale Stack, Jerold Stack, and Wayne Stack.

Kathleen and Marvin were tobacco farmers, she worked at Northwest Guilford Junior High School in the cafeteria, was a caregiver for families, and was beloved by all who knew her. She was a longtime member of Colfax Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She loved working outside particularly her flower garden.

Survivors include her daughter Karen Atchison of Kernersville; sons Donald R. Atchison and Janice of Kernersville, Gary Atchison of Colfax, and Tony Atchison of Colfax; grandchildren Keith Atchison and Jennifer, Chris Atchison and Edna, Mark Lemmons, Amy Atchison, Shane Spainhour, Tawanna Spainhour, Amber Napier, and Scott Napier; thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters-in-laws Irene Stack, Violet Stack, Sarah Eaton and Bill, Nancy Beeson and Don, and Phyllis Atchison; and a host of extended family and friends.
