Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park. Kathryn was born in an area of Oklahoma known as the Mountain View Community, which is near McAlester, Oklahoma. Her parents were John Wesley Treado and Lucille Anna Dusenberry-Treado, both deceased.
John Wesley started work in the McAlester/Krebs area as a coal miner, and then moved his family to Mountain View, started and ran a dairy until his death. Kathryn lived there until she met and married Thomas Murray Banks of Crowder, Oklahoma, in February of 1953. Kathryn loved her home in Fort Smith, where she spent most of her life, starting around 1957.
Notably, she loved working on her yard, and kept it meticulous. Most especially, she loved her family, her church friends and the fellowship of the fitness center, where she once attended on a regular basis. Her husband worked at Griffin Grocery Company for many years, and Kathryn was a frequent visitor to the facility.
She became well-known to the employees, salesmen, customers and executives until the business closed and moved to another town. Even then, she was always known as “Miz Tom” to everyone. Kathryn (known as ‘Catty’ by her siblings, because of her love of cats) is survived by her husband, Thomas Murray Banks of Fort Smith, and by her children: daughter Margaret Kathleen Redmond of Little Orleans, Maryland, son Thomas Michael ‘Mike’ Banks, of Southern Pines, North Carolina, grandchildren Thomas Matthew, Ivilesse Marie and Rebecca Lynn Banks, of Nashville, Tennessee, and her younger brother, John Ray Treado, CMSGT, U.S. Air Force (retired), of Washington State.
As noted above, Kathryn is pre-deceased by her parents, and her paternal grandmother, Sarah Josephine Cranmore-Treado. Other deceased family members are: Clarence Edward (known as Andy) Treado, Major, U.S. Army (retired), Jack Treado of Crowder, Oklahoma, Margaret Eileen Riccon, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Betty Lou Dobbs of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, June Marks of Lompoc, California. She was well-loved by her husband’s family, and remained close to them until their deaths: Murray and Marie Banks, Bob Banks, Bill Banks and Mary Jane Banks-Duff, all of Crowder, Oklahoma.
Kathryn will be missed by her many friends, children, nieces, nephews and cousins.
