Kenneth’s Obituary Marion, VA Kenneth A. Myers age 80 passed away Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Myers was born in Smyth County, Va to the late Wiley and Georgia Hopkins Myers and was preceded in death by his sisters Mildred Bresette, Helen Anderson and Pansy Winesette. Mr. Myers served in the US Air Force from 1956 to 1976.

He served in the Vietnam War and was a combat veteran who received several medals of valor for air rescues in the Asian Theatre. He lived in Panama from 1974 to 1976 at Howard Air Force base and retired as a Master Sergeant from Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina. After retirement Mr. Myers moved back to Marion and worked for Pepsi as a production manager.

He then worked at Piggly Wiggly and Food City as operations manager. Mr. Myers, along with his wife Heyliette, whom he loved dearly, operated a daycare in their home for many years and were very influential in many peoples’ lives, especially children. He was a father figure and friend who had many nick names from Paw, Paw Paw, Nanner and Big K. He will be remembered as a man who was always consistent.

Everything in his life was squared away. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Heyliette Myers; son, Kenny Myers and wife Lisa of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Michael Myers and wife Brittany of Albuquerque, NM, Nathaniel Myers of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Harold Myers and wife Maxine of Orange, VA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Thursday December 13, 2018 at Bradley’s Funeral Home with Reverend Wesley Eller officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery with full military honors being rendered by the USAF Honor Guard and The Francis Marion VFW Post 4667. The family will receive friends on Wednesday December 12, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
