Obituary of Kenneth Keith Kenneth George Keith, 83, passed away on November 3, 2018 after a long illness. He was born on January 8, 1935 in Dunkirk, NY to Kenneth & Mabel (Munney) Keith. Kenneth spent his childhood in Westfield, NY.

He graduated from Brocton Central School in 1952 and received his BS in Education from SUNY Teachers College at Fredonia in 1957. He continued his education at the University of Pennsylvania receiving a MS in Education in 1959. He was a science teacher at the Holland Central Schools from 1959 to 1966.

In 1966, he accepted a position as a Physics and Engineering Sciences professor at Corning Community College. He completed his MS in Engineering Science from Clarkson College of Technology in 1972. He taught at Corning Community College until his retirement in 1990.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Sylvia (Cole) Keith of Corning, NY, daughter Kimberly (Paul) Reger, daughter Heidi Feeney, granddaughters Ellen Feeney, Leanne (Joe) Shoemaker, Gina Feeney, and great grandson Brady Shoemaker. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Greg Feeney and his granddaughter, Alicia Reger. He is survived by his sister, Jeanette DePasquale of Dumfries, VA, niece Dianne (Frank) Shomper of Dumfries, VA and nephew Richard (Susie) DePasquale of Fairport, NY.

Ken was very active in his retirement. He took many family vacations to St. Maarten NA, Florida, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania playing golf, enjoying his grandchildren, and sightseeing. Ken and Sylvia ran the S & K Blueberry U-Pick in Caton, NY for many years.

He enjoyed visiting with the many pickers that visited their fields. Ken was a member and past president of the Southern Tier Dahlia Association growing, exhibiting, and judging dahlias at shows throughout the northeast. Ken loved working with wood and enjoyed building and installing custom kitchen cabinets.

He traveled to auctions in the northeast searching for antique tools. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity contributing his wood working skills on the kitchens of many local homes. Ken was a founding member of the Science and Discovery Center of Corning and enjoyed building science displays.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Corning Center and Corning Hospital for their compassionate care. Calling hours will be held Thursday, November 8 from 4 to 6 PM at Phillips Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney St, Corning, NY 14830. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the charity of one’s personal choice.
