Obituary for Mr. Larry M. Alexander Larry Marvette Alexander, known to many as “Pick” was born on May 28, 1953 to the late Johnnie Will Alexander, Sr. and Lurie Lee Blidge in Edison, GA. Floyd and Eddie Mae McCraw raised him as their own in a Christian home in Mount Dora, Florida. He was educated in the Lake County School system, where he graduated from Mount Dora High School in 1971.
He was very intellectual in academics. His classmates nicknamed him “Pick” because he was extremely skinny like a toothpick. After high school, he attended college and joined the United States Air Force.
Larry worked various jobs until his health failed him. He was a born again believer and member of Lighthouse Tabernacle of Prayer in Apopka, Florida. Larry was preceded in death by Johnnie Will Alexander, Sr. (father); Floyd and Eddie Mae McCraw (who he acknowledged as his parents); Betty Jo Alexander (wife), Jake Brown (son), Hutis “Tina” Wiles (sister), Clara Holmes (sister), Benjamin Davis (brother), and Walker Cook (brother).
Larry leaves to cherish his precious memories, his children: Rodney Alexander of Lady Lake, FL; Jarrod Johnson of Grand Forks, ND; Jacoby Johnson (Desiree), William Johnson, Sharrod Johnson, and Laurann Johnson all of Mount Dora, FL; Larry Johnson (AKA Spencer Allen or “Lil Larry”) of Reedsville, Wisconsin; Brenda Likely of Eustis, FL; Bobby Brown of Atlanta, GA; and Celeste Brown of Tavares, FL. His grandchildren include Brittney Hill, Willie Woods, Jr., Donte Albert, Deschela McClenton, Tyrese Brown, Ray Likely, Brendan Likely, Eric Hunter, Breanna Brown, Bobby Brown, Jr., Kendrick Armstrong, Harmoni Reynolds, Jacoby Johnson, Jr., and Kennedy Johnson. Larry’s siblings are Willie James Alexander of Arlington, GA; Eugene Alexander of Savannah, GA; Johnnie Will Alexander, Jr. of Fort White, FL; Pauline Jackson (Charles) of Orlando, FL; Rose Marie King (Willie) of Winter Garden, FL; Eddie Seaverson (Gwendolyn) of Winter Garden, FL; Jonathon Seaverson (Marjorie) of Orlando, FL; Betty Cook of Orlando, FL; Howard Cook of Altamonte Springs, FL; Willie James Cook of Winter Garden, FL; and Joan White of Orlando, FL; his sisterin-laws include Viola Johnson, Lee Ethel Johnson, and Kathy Johnson; and his brother-in-law’s include Virgil Johnson, Edward Johnson, and Johnny Johnson and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, many loved ones and friends.
Larry has been suffering in his body for many years, and only he and God know the extent of his pain. In the midst of it all, he often spoke of his faith in God and how much he loved and trusted God. Although our hearts are heavy, we should find solace in the fact that he is no longer suffering in his body.
